Los Angeles Bathroom Remodeling

The investment you make in remodeling your bathroom could return some of that cost. The Remodeling magazine has statistics for the United States based upon location and type of remodeling project.

Small and enclosed doesn’t have to make you feel crowded and agitated. Above all, your home furnishings should bring a sense of calm and serenity. This includes in the bathroom where you will shed your days stress under steamy showers or relaxing bathwater and let everything else go down the drain. I’m so glad you like it! It’s called San Marco Viva Linen and was available from most of the flooring stores in my city when I was looking!

Remember that it’s easy to make the opening smaller by using furring, but it can be an ugly task to make it bigger. When going with mortar-grouted panels, figure each block is 8 in. wide, then add 1/4 in. to …

Read This Before You Finish Your Basement

This article contains some real how to information! not just a bunch of text to get you to click on links. I will give you some real practical advice on how to clean up and repair water damage whether it be from a flood, plumbing leak, or roof leak. First off you need to stop the water! If it is a leak in your plumbing you will probably have to shut the water main off at the street (or pressure tank if you are on a well). If the water is coming from roof damage a tarp will normally work for a quick fix. If it’s from a flood you will need sandbags to try to divert the water away from the house. This will only work for small flooding areas. In a big flood you will just have to wait it out.

Do you know how many cans it …

$20,000 For A Home Remodel, What Would You Spend It On?

We bought an old farmhouse. It was not in good shape. The house needed remodeling. We had to tear out the old bathroom because the placement of it was in the way of building better staircases. The staircases going to the basement and the second floor. The stairs in this house were like ladders, not stairs.

We spend much of our time in our bathroom and it should be a place free of obstacles and clutter as it can be the most dangerous room in the house. Keeping it clutter free and organized will help you start your day with the right mindset and focused on the tasks ahead at work. Just because your bathroom is small doesn’t mean it can’t look custom designed. Pull everything out of your bathroom and start from scratch, getting rid of some of the things that are not used and only leaving necessary items. …

Speaking of reusing – even though we couldn’t reuse the tile, I was lucky enough to find a pedestal sink and medicine cabinet that exactly match the existing sink and cabinet we currently have, for $238. I got so lucky! Just think if I couldn’t find a matching sink and medicine cabinet to complete the look we are going for?! We’d be spending at least $400 for four new pieces.

So after water damage that occured in early September, after dealing with the insurance company, and after many months of hard work, our master bath was ready for us to use in late …

Creating A Pretty Cottage Bathroom

We installed carrera marble subway tile four feet up on the walls and carrera marble hex tile for the floor. We then put the original wood planks that we discovered under the drywall back on the walls.

We received a price of $30,000 to completely redo our medium sized bathroom!!! We’re redoing our whole house and every room was $30,000. This is a well-built 2000+ sq. ft. 40 year old ranch, not a tear down. My husband remodeled our 1/2 bath and it cost us under $2000 using high end materials. We are redoing the laundry room, the mud room and the sun room. Altogether the contractor said it would cost between $175,000 & $200,000 for the rest of the home. Outrageous. We’re looking for a more reasonable contractor in Michigan. This website was very helpful.

The new built in Welsh Dresser replaced old bookshelf’s above an existing built-in cupboard. …

5 Steps To A Successful Kitchen Or Bath Remodel

I thought I’d share a new remodel project that I’m working on. The house that my girlfriend just moved into is really great but the Master Bath has some issues. Since they were going to remodel the Basement anyway they decided to tackle the bath at the same time. Here is the Bath as it was when the house was for sale.

I am a decorating mistake. I always have clutter. I admire people who can put only a few things on a shelf. I always have them crammed full. But I hate white walls. Who came up with that idea? And sickly greens. I love color and if I actually owned a house it would be painted with cheerful colors. My RV has lots of blue in it and it is very peaceful.

The best location for this type of mirror is above the bathroom vanity. It consists of …

Finishing A Basement Cost

Basements offer a bonus for homeowners looking to increase living space. But unlike the rest of the house, these below-grade rooms require thoughtful planning and prep work.

In the photo below, my sister created a space for her son with old items on hand. She removed the bottom bunk and re-enforced the legs. She then added a lounge chair, TV on a rolling stand, and shelves next to it. This gave him a secluded feeling and space in which he could play his games. If his sister came to bug him, he would hand up a sheet to create a closed fort.

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

How often do you see a filthy spa bathroom with a mildewed ceiling? If spa owners let their bathrooms deteriorate like that, they certainly won’t receive many customers. No matter how spacious or well-decorated your bathroom is, it will not become a true place to relax unless it is sparkling clean. So the first step of creating a bathroom spa is to make everything look spotless. Pay extra attention to all the corners and hard-to-reach spots. Throw away old bottles of shampoo and soap that have been sitting there untouched for ages.

Wallpaper can be a great designer addition to your home, but after awhile – accidents happen – and wallpaper can start to peel. You can easily fix it with some wallpaper paste. Using a knife, smear some wallpaper paste on a piece of writing or printer paper. Rub the piece of paper that you just smeared paste on …

Bathroom Ideas (2)

A bathroom is typically a small space, but it has to have a ton of functionality and flexibility while still looking clean and comfortable, preferably spa-like — so it definitely deserves some careful planning when it comes to remodeling to make sure it’s done right. According to US News and World Report, homeowners can expect an average 62 percent return on their investment so long as their remodel isn’t done fast and cheap and includes the things that homebuyers are looking for, like good lighting, two sinks, and neutral colors.

This bathroom uses up-light and low lights to illuminate the vanity. Table lamps aren’t often thought of for the bathroom, but why not give it a try. You can always move them back into the living room if they don’t work. Always a great back-up or to use when you just need to spot clean or do a quick run …
