If your basement is limited to storing the artificial Christmas tree and several pieces of discarded furniture, you could be neglecting your home’s potential for additional living space.
Tons of full color photographs and drawings, and well-written text make this book a must-read for the amateur home-improver. This book isn’t an exhaustive guide to remodeling, but it covers most of everything you’d need to know. For some specifics, like plumbing and electrical, it may be necessary to get a more detailed book on those subjects, if you’re going to do that work yourself. Still, a great book, I’m already relying on it to do my own basement remodel.
In addition to the problems mentioned earlier in the text, the basement floor needs to be perfectly level before any kind of flooring can be installed. In the case of noticeable slopes and other flaws, the new floor finish can be damaged, and not to mention the aesthetic appeal compromised. A bubble level can be used to check for slopes on the floor.
My husband and I did it ourselves! Most important it looks great and we haven’t even painted yet! We looked at many basement finishing systems and WAHOO is the only system that we could purchase and install ourselves. We could not afford to pay a contractor to install it! The delivery driver was very polite and take great care in unloading our walls from the truck! THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVE AND ANNE AND THE EMLOYEES OF WAHOO WALLS! MICHIGAN MADE PRODUCTS – WE SALUTE YOU!
In August we decided to build a detached 2-car garage in our backyard. We thought we had a pretty good idea of how much it would cost, so we hired an architect and engineering company, and along the way found out it’ll actually cost more than twice as much as we had originally thought. But since we had already paid for the blueprints and grading plan, and it won’t get any cheaper if we wait to do it in the future, we decided to go ahead with it.
